Great news ! As of January 1, 2020, MATs will be able to accept Medicare patients…

Finally, Medicare patients are included in treatment the same way Medicaid patients have been included in treatment for years. It is great news and it is going to help millions of struggling older people needing drug treatment. It is starting on January 1, 2020.

Thanks Olivier for the information! Great news indeed.

What does this announcment mean: “Starting in 2020Medicare will be required to pay a bundled rate for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) in an OTP. This means that when patients turn 65 and lose their Medicaid or commercial insurance, getting Medicare instead, they will be able to stay in treatment.”

I just wanted to supplement a reference in case anyone wants to find out more: http://atforum.com/2018/11/most-important-aspect-of-congress-opioid-bill-medicare-for-otps/

Thank you!
